In Full Arch & Dentures
I see alot of terminal dentition cases. Severe Maxillary atrophy is not uncommon, restoring these cases can be challenging. In this case we performed dual sinus lifts and chose to remove the contents of the Nasopalatine foramen (incisive canal) and put an implant there. There doesn't seem to be alot of literature about placing implants in the foramen, but a mentor of mine showed me this technique years ago. Anecdotal clinical experience tells me about half of the people with severe Maxillary resorption have foramen "suitable" for this technique. I like to have at least 8mm length wise and a foramen totally enclosed in bone. I've done several of these cases with good success. Research is needed, but this could become an alternative treatment to Zygomatic implants.
I don't have clinical pictures of this case :-0
